How to download Instagram Reels on PC or Mac

On a computer, Instagram doesn't give you a download button for Reels. You can still save a public Reel as an MP4 file with a browser and about 20 seconds.

Public posts onlyNo Instagram login

This works the same on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook, without an extension, software or an Instagram sign-in.

It's handy if you edit videos or want to archive your own Reels.

Steps

  1. 1

Open the Reel on instagram.com in your browser.

  2. 2

Copy the URL from the address bar. It looks like instagram.com/reel/...

  3. 3

Open instagramfetch.com in a new tab, or use the paste box on this page.

  4. 4

Paste the link with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac).

  5. 5

    Click Download.

  6. 6

Click Download MP4 on the result. If the video opens in a new tab, right-click it and choose Save video as.

  7. 7

The MP4 will be in your Downloads folder.
